A Note from Our Trustees

To Every Child, Every Donor,
Every Well-Wisher

"Education is not a gift we give to children. It is a right that belongs to them. Our only job is to make sure nothing stands in the way."

Ten years ago, this journey began with a simple belief: every child, no matter where they are born or how much money their family has, deserves a chance to learn.

We started small one child, one scholarship, one village visit. We drove to Chickaballapur, sat with children and their parents under open skies, and listened to stories of dreams that just needed a little help to come true.

Today, as we mark a decade of this work, we are filled with gratitude. Gratitude for the children who trusted us. Gratitude for the parents who believed us. Gratitude for every donor, volunteer, and partner who said: "Yes, let's do this together."

This magazine is our way of saying thank you and of reminding ourselves why we started.

We hope these pages make you smile, make you proud, and inspire you to walk a little further with us.

Children learning together
Education opens doors

Across India's villages and small towns, millions of children want to go to school. They are bright, curious, and ready to learn. But somewhere between that dream and the classroom, money gets in the way. Families are forced to make impossible choices. Quietly, one by one, children drop out not because they don't want to study, but because nobody stepped in at the right moment.

Law Park Educational Trust was born to be that step. We are a registered educational trust based in HSR Layout, Bengaluru. Since 2016, we have been travelling to rural areas across India from Chickaballapur to MM Hills tribal villages to find children who need partial scholarship support to stay in school.

Our Four-Step Process

1

Identify

School principals, well-wishers, and community members nominate deserving students from income-deprived backgrounds who need support to continue their education.

2

Validate

We visit the location, gather students and parents, and interview each family to verify their situation with care, respect, and no shortcuts.

3

Embrace

We cover up to 75% of a child's tuition fees at their current school. Parents contribute the remaining part because involvement creates ownership.

4

Incubate

Fees are paid directly to the school not through parents so children can focus solely on their studies and tap their fullest potential.

2016

Our First Scholarship

Every journey begins somewhere. Ours began in Chickaballapur with one child receiving our very first scholarship. On that same visit, we distributed steel plates and steel glasses to 150 students small things that meant the world.

Building the Foundation

Our team returned to Chickaballapur, renewing scholarships for every continuing student. New applications were carefully validated through personal home visits and parent interviews — building a process we would follow for the next decade.

Growing Impact

Scholarship coverage expanded across Chickaballapur district, with a renewed focus on students from single-parent and daily-wage families. Each validation visit reinforced how one year of fee support can redirect a child's entire trajectory.

2020

Pandemic Resilience

Schools closed. Families lost livelihoods. And yet our scholarship commitments did not stop. We ensured fees were honoured for every enrolled child, so that when schools reopened, no child had to start over from zero.

As schools reopened fully, we renewed and expanded our scholarship roster. The relationships forged during the pandemic — phone calls with parents, follow-ups with principals — had created a deeper, more resilient network of trust and care.

"I Almost Stopped Going to School"

Meena's Story

Meena was twelve when her father lost his daily wage work for two months. The school sent home a reminder about unpaid fees. She sat outside her house, wondering if she would have to stop studying.

Her teacher knew about Law Park Educational Trust. A few weeks later, a team visited her village, met her family, and asked Meena what she wanted to become. "A teacher," she said quietly. Her fees were taken care of. She is now in the 9th standard and attended a career counselling session organised by the Trust. She knows exactly which stream she wants to take after 10th.

"The School Bag Changed Everything"

Raju's Story

Raju lives near MM Hills. Until last year, he carried his books in a torn plastic bag. When the Trust visited with 200 school bags, Raju got a new one. For a ten-year-old boy, that bag meant he belonged just like every other child. His mother says he now wakes up early every morning, packs his bag the night before, and never misses a day of school.

"A Library in My School"

Sunita's Story

Sunita had never read a storybook. Her school had no library just textbooks and chalk. When Law Park set up a small library, she picked up a story about a girl who becomes a doctor. She read it three times. Today she visits the library every week. She wants to be a doctor because she read about one in a book that someone donated.

A donated book is not just paper and ink. It is someone's dream, passed on to a child who needed it.

Real Lives, Names Withheld

Names have been withheld to protect privacy.

Child (Female). Father expired when she was 8. When she was to write her 10th final exams, her mother was diagnosed with stroke and later brain tumour. No financial help from relatives. We helped her study till 12th. May 2025 her mother expired. We brought her completely under our care despite relatives pressing for marriage. She is now doing her under graduation happily.

Children (one female, one male). Mother expired due to illness; same year father expired due to depression. Their uncle (mother's younger brother) cares for them and chose not to marry. His poverty is a challenge. They are now under our care.

Child (Female). Cared by her grandmother. Mother left and married another. Father stays away. Grandmother at old age earns for the child's future.

Children (4 female). Husband expired due to HIV. Mother is HIV-positive, on heavy medication and dizzy, still works as coolie. Their house collapsed; they now live in a shelter.

Child (Female). She discontinued education to take care of her siblings and works as coolie. They lost their parents at a very young age. We thought the scholarship was for her; she pointed it to her siblings. Now all three are in school.

Child (Male). Mother died in gas cylinder burst. Father remarried and left the child. Grandparents expired. An extended relative in poverty takes care of him.

Child (Male). Well-wishers arranged his mother's marriage to an elderly physically challenged man. He harassed her; one day he hit her so hard she became mentally challenged and he absconded. She no longer recognises her own son.

Child (Female). Mother expired. Father is a heart patient, lost one leg, still drives auto for livelihood. Father of 4 daughters; he does household chores in every gap. All four children are very good at studies.

Child (Male). Mother is blind. Father left the family. They survive with grandmother's idli shop.

Child (Female). A tender coconut seller (father) accidentally chopped his hand; severe infection led to his death. Mother is suffering; we support the family.
